Get to Know Chren

Welcome to According to Chren everyone! Since we’re new to the blogging world, we wanted all of our readers to have a chance to get to know us. Feel free to tell us more about yourselves in the comments section below!

1. We’re Besties!

The first thing to know about us is that we’ve been best friends practically since the moment we met. We met through a mutual friend and have been inseparable ever since. In fact, when we had to say bye to each other for the first time, we became super sad and spent the entire next day trying to schedule a visit ASAP.

We bonded quickly over our similar sense of humor and our desire to go on adventures. Eventually, we shared a passion for writing, psychology and creativity.

2. We Met in 2013

Our friendship anniversary is on July 3rd, or what we call IndeCHRENdence Day! We celebrate every year by reflecting on our amazing friendship. We hope to plan something big for our 10-year friendship anniversary. Maybe that includes a trip or a fun adventure.

3. We Like to be Creative

The second time we saw each other was when we realized how much fun we have being creative together. This led to us writing short stories and songs, while also coming up with dance routines and new games. Every day together is a unique adventure for what we’ll come up with next. We have some ideas for the future and we can’t wait to share them with all of you.

4. We’re Both Writers

This part is pretty obvious. One of the first things we learned about each other was our shared passion for writing and our desire to become published authors one day. While we both write separately, we’ve collaborated on The Misadventures of Johan O’Malley. We’ll post new chapters of this book on the blog every month. You can read Chapter 1: The Prom now! Keep checking our story page for all updates.

5. But We’re Opposites in Some Ways

The biggest difference between the two of us is Ben is an introvert and Christy is an extrovert. While together we’re very boisterous and crazy, Ben tends to be quieter in large groups, where Christy usually prefers to be around people.

Another difference is that Christy is Type A and Ben is more Type B. We balance each other out because Christy helps Ben focus and Ben helps Christy relax. It’s the perfect combination for starting a blog.

6. We Don’t Live Close to Each Other

Sadly, we don’t live together…yet. Hopefully someday soon! Currently, Ben is in the Boston area while Christy is the D.C. area. We do try to get together as much as possible. We recently brought in the New Year together in D.C.!

Update: Since we posted this in January 2022, we moved in together. Read more about our decision here!

7. We Talk Every Day

You know you have a connection with someone when you talk to someone every day for over eight years. No matter what, we make the effort to always communicate, whether it’s in person, text, calling or Skype. The most important aspect of our strong friendship is honest communication. We highly recommend it for any important relationship.

8. We Have Friendship Rules

Think of Elle and Lee in The Kissing Booth, but much less toxic. Our rules are:

  1. Be the first person to wish the other happy birthday! This is done at midnight with a Facebook post.
  2. Talk every day.
  3. Tell each other everything.
  4. Never lie to each other.
  5. Always support each other.

  2. Being best friends is a wonderful thing — and I can sense the connection in your post here. It’s great when you find that one person who you just click with. My bestie and I have been best friends for 38 years (we live far away from each other as I moved to the US 8 years ago and she is in the UK). Whenever we chat it’s like we’ve never been apart! Good luck with your blogging — I look forward to reading more!
